GMO-free products, in addition to being (almost always) part of the Organic, manifest the total absence of Genetically Modified Organisms. GMO Free is applied after strict controls on the methods of cultivation, fertilization and pest control of fruits, vegetables and, if present, grains and grasses.

GMO stands for Genetically Modified Organism and indicates those plants and organisms, the genetic makeup of which has been 'reworked' or created in the laboratory to increase properties, speed of growth or functionality.

Products that may have GMOs are those of intensive agriculture such as corn and soybeans, often used to enrich and increase the protein value of dog and cat kibble.
