Treatment of Pain

The cat is particularly reluctant to express pain. Since it is a predator, it is very adept at effectively masking its weaknesses thus making it very difficult for the owner to understand the level of pain their kitty is experiencing.

One of the main signs that can indicate that our cat is experiencing pain is a sudden change in his usual behavior. Another aspect to watch out for is body posture, for example, an arched back can be the basis of severe abdominal pain. Other causes of pain include osteoarticular diseases, pancreatitis (generates widespread pain in internal organs), idiopathic cystitis in the cat, and inflammatory bowel disease, such as IBD, which brings belly pain, nausea, and dysentery.
