The main ingredient in Barf's Venison Fish and Beef Mince for Dogs and Cats is beef together with offal (heart, liver, tripe and lungs), the taste of which is enhanced by the addition of salmon and herring.
Fish is an excellent food and has always been a complete food source.
While beef, which is not a natural prey of the dog and cat, is an excellent source of protein with high biological value given by the presence of essential amino acids.
Beef offal is an excellent and natural source of vitamins and minerals; in particular Vitamin A is of great importance for growth, the immune system, the visual process, and the renewal of skin and mucous membrane cells.
Regarding minerals, iron, in particular, is important for oxygen transport in the blood.
Both types of fish contain above all, vitamins (A, D and E, B1, B2, B6 and B12), minerals and trace elements (magnesium, iron, potassium, zinc, phosphorus, selenium and iodine).
Iodine supports digestion, magnesium strengthens bone structure and the nervous system, and selenium protects cells from oxidative stress.
Important amounts of omega-3 fatty acids are present in salmon, which are not synthesized by dogs and cats and are essential. These essential fatty acids especially play an important role in the inflammatory process as constituents of cell membrane phospholipids.
To achieve a complete and balanced BARF diet, add to the meat, one of two Barf-specific vegetable soups, the right specific supplements, seasonings such as salmon oil or cod oil rich in Omega 3 and Omega 6, and nutritional supplements such as herbs and minerals.
